PK Salasya Declares 2027 Presidential Bid, Says Only He Can Challenge Ruto

By Ahmed Salat Ali

In a bold and unexpected move, Mumias East MP Peter Kalerwa Salasya has announced his intention to contest for the presidency in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a press briefing in Nairobi, Salasya declared himself the only viable alternative to President William Ruto, claiming that established political figures like Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua no longer inspire confidence among Kenyans.

"2027 nasimama kuwa president. Mimi pekee ndio naweza deal na Ruto na nijue ke chini," said Salasya, brimming with confidence. "Akina Kalonzo, Gachagua, pamoja na Raila na Ruto wote wamechosha Wakenya. They want new leaders."

The first-term MP, known for his youthful energy and often unorthodox approach to politics, said his leadership would usher in a new era of honesty, youth empowerment, and economic transformation.

Political analysts have dismissed the declaration as premature, though some believe his populist message could resonate with frustrated young voters.

Whether his campaign will gather momentum or remain symbolic remains to be seen, but Salasya’s entry into the presidential race is sure to stir debate and shift narratives in Kenya's evolving political landscape.
