HIGHEST NEW HIV/AIDS INFECTION IN WAJIR COUNTY - AFFIRMATIVE APPROACH NEEDED

unless an earlier intervention taken many generation will left in limbo....

For decades illness were less talked people living with hope ,with less worry putting in mind like there was no sickness, As globalization, urbanization overlap that hugely contributed a worrying trends
Our lifestyle changed from the way of living, food ,dressing and culture . Northern Kenya which is predominant Somali community that has its own unique lifestyle as generation encounter full force of the dynamic of the 21st Century is felt.
Wajir among the Counties that now is on the verge of death bell reason that the pandemic disease HIV/Aids is ravaging highly something that must be a worry that may in future lead to a catastrophic ,too worry that generation may go to an extinct it's now or never a mitigation be done - through campaign ,public awareness countywide. All stakeholders to partake to intercept this incoming calamity. Youth, women all we must control ourselves,we must try to indulge a constructive way of life especially to put a stop to the hanky panky character or behavior as to avoid later regret in life. We must strengthen our hearts with God ,faith gives a beacon of good life both here and hereafter ,to build a strong moral values - key pillars .
According to National Aids Control Council Wajir branch the people who we're tested over three thousands (3000) are affected only four hundreds registered known, who under medication or taking the life boost drugs (ARVs) the rest two thousands six hundreds (2,600) are within the society .
The report says only thirty percent willingly go for tests- unlike seventy percent (70%) .people are urged to do the voluntarily check up at least to know their status.
Youth are among most affected in the county, from age 14yrs -42yrs which is very alarming. So far the County HIVS/Aids control department have done multiple engagement to give counseling, awareness and support the people living with the disease.
Among factors believed to contributed the high number to go up ; population as the County grow more people especially the influx of other Kenyans who may work as civil servant, business - the movement that enhance exchange of interaction with Somali communities.
Urbanization, going to other Counties that is many residents go for education, work -literally Wajir county become a metropolitan region.
The increase of divorce also main nerve facilitated for the pandemics to shot up - without test many people getting married.
Emerging of commercial sex workers in our county which is too rampant now is also associated with why the disease increase its rate ,why many youth succumbed into the death pond .
Drug abuse and ignorance and little education takes the least of the factors.
The statistics from the National Aids Control Council (NACC), there are 238,987 young people between the ages of 15 to 24 years living with HIV.
These form more than 20 percent of the over 1.1 million people currently on anti-retro viral  drugs countrywide.
Only 48.5 percent of the total population of the youth between 15 and 19 years have been tested, with 84.8 per cent of those between 20 to 24 years so far tested.
Annually the world celebrate the World Aids Day ,this day is marked first December - its for world to discuss how far the Nations of the world make progress of combating the disease, which way forward is best to engage.
Thus fighting the disease takes a huge efforts for all it's a wholistic approach commitment. As we make strides in our life we must take caution whatever we do or involve.
To control more infection among our youths both National and County government must engage with youth to empower them economically this would contribute to the establishment of a prosperous and peaceful nation. Youths, especially young women, bear the brunt of the HIV epidemic due to limited access to information, preventive, curative and counseling services, stigma and discrimination and if it is left unchecked or revisited there is a threat to the great strides in controlling its spread.- political approach is inevitable measures.
finally my appeal to the youth let's abstain or go for long term solutions that is marrying. "Mpango Short Call" never to good for us.
