Residents decry dilapidated hospital in makaror, seek govt interventions.
The decrepit state of makaror hospital has sparked uproar among local residents, with many complaints over the lack of essential drugs, dilapidated equipment and poor service delivery due to lack of vital facilities like ambulance services.
in my recent visit to the facility early this week it's clear enough the county government had failed in addressing health issues in Wajir especially the health centers mostly those close to the residents an example makaror dispensary - due to spiraling corruption and lethargy among the county staff the wananchi are going through painful account in accessing health service.
Despite the health sector receiving the largest chunk of the county budget, it is being run down purposely to serve the interests of a few- overhaul needed.
The health center in makaror is in a sorry state. Decrying the situation, the residents called on government for intervention.
It was built in 2013 under first phase of devolution to bring healthcare closer to the grassroots but today the center is in dare need.
The current state of the hospital has begun to impact negatively on the surrounding communities, while rodents and reptiles may add to the pains of patients during this rainy season WHY the shrubs inside are growing thus can be a hideout for animals.
Some patients on admission, who managed to speak to us express their discomfort on the provision of healthcare services in the county.
Structurally the building is very horrible, cracks of the wall is dean to snakes and bats.
Residents of makaror are calling on the government to come to their aid before the facility caves in.
Although located at the centre of the community for easy access, the situation at the health facility is nothing but a cry for help.
The roads leading to the dispensary healthcare centre is unpaved and rough, and unlike many urban healthcare centres, it lacks a protective fence. Instead, it is bordered by trees and wild vegetation- even some portion of the land were grabbed.
As soon as one walks through the facility’s doors, the dilapidated state is evident — ceilings hang precariously, damaged and fallen apart. As a result, the roof leaks whenever it rains.
some officials in anonymity said patients are often referred to the general hospital, as the facility lacks the resources to meet their needs.
The health centre, according to the staff, also lacks water, which is vital for hygiene and sanitation.
The state of the hospital toilets is an eyesore as they have not been washed for weeks due to lack of a detergent - with slaughter house adjacent to the facility one feels suffocated- with rains continues pounding no iota cholera outbreaks will be on the rise hence the hospital Will not be able to manage it before it's too late health department should be concern.
Area leaders should come out from the honeymoon craving and actively to look into this menace in makaror dispensary.
With governor Ahmed's administration is committed to provision of proper healthcare services here in other side of Wajir town people are in struggling to the needs of better healthcare -. realization of universal healthcare needs more than political Will - For now the residents remain optimistic that their plights will be addressed effectively and urgently.
