THE NORTHERN LEADERS A COMPROMISE OR INTEREST ORIENTED INDIVIDUALS- political hypocrisy, the mask of power THAT never give back
opinion
American political journalist Michael Gerson says that political hypocrisy is "the conscious use of a mask to fool the public and gain political benefit".
Two days ago Northern parliamentary groups convene a treat that they will discuss, deliberate issues are so concerned to the region - The question is that was this convention a honest, important, deliver an implementable actions and bring a solution to our long protracted problems we are facing as residents of this part of the nation? Yeah it's a noble step for these leaders to come together to dissect things are so touch to us but one thing as i outlined above are they are honest? We know for years our region was a theater of misconceptions, blackmail, injustice, backwardness and hotbed of crisis.
We know our political journey in this part of the region; mandera, Wajir and Garissa is based on negotiated democracy, a SULTANET based of structure (clandestine syndrome) - under this system TRIBALISM, CLANNNISM has derailed ,squash the DEMOCRACY, dreams and good SERVICE delivery.
Devolution were HIGHJACKED by nepotism, favouritism, political sycophancy, corruption and payback political sympathy- we have seen the huge percentage of allocated for has no IMPACTS in our Counties.
Today we have families who are in dare need of water, food, medicines, the rate of unemployment amongst youths are high, recruitment are not done on merits, next of kin related consideration Accumulation of problems.
The purposely of having such RETREATS is merely a MILEAGES it will be panacea for us if they honestly agitate for that dream- again it's a double-standard why calling for economical empowerment of your people when already you holding your meetings in mombasa while you have amazing hotels in your regions, that money could have helped.
We elect them to on note they bring radical changes in both SOCIO-ECONOMIC aspects. Our leaders were always in hurry to settle their interest, no unity among them, frankly they always RESURFACES when matter is their favour, rarely they stand for the expectations of their votes.
In several occasions they tend to lay low against matters that are dear to common wananchi for example our region North Eastern province we have seen how pathetic our infrastructure is,our roads are too bad DILAPIDATED ,the promises were taken or assured by the so many governments have not bear fruits - I think this roads that link Garissa-Wajir- Mandera it's contract awards are out it's thier sole RESPONSIBILITIES to make sure the project is fully engaged- decades ago in the name of tarmacking this road was said, the money diverted to other developmental projects in other region which as result of inactiviness of our leaders.
If they unit ,they put at bay the politics of clan, tribe, thier commitment will fully work- but if that power is for self INVESTMENT interests our development will be In question.
No iota of doubts there too much political hypocrisy happening in our region, these leaders opts to go into a direction of divide rule to seek their interests. They are privileged, have power and resources.
We witnessed many times the politicians going against the wish of their voters take in example in the recent Gachagua's impeachment the mps turned out hundred percent(100%) , did public participation, debating imagine no single time they voluntary call for accountability against the executive on matters that touched to their votes- political will is much compromised .
Each election period we tend to jostle for a certain positions as common wananchi, through tribal line we are also part of the problem - What kind of hypocrite should voters choose as their leaders? The question seems utterly cynical but it is actually much more cynical to pretend that politics can ever be completely sincere .
The problems of sincerity and truth in politics, and how we can deal with them without slipping into hypocrisy ourselves is as voters we should establish a way to call for our expectation, development and progress and that does not come into silver plate as somali proverb says " A willingly sheep never negotiate with the knife (Laax halkii isdiigta ayac lugu qala)for decades we have been a laughing stock to these politicians. They crafted a mischievous ways to either to curtail our UNITY, PROGRESS and a call for ACCOUNTABILITY and TRANSPARENCY.
instead of vainly searching for authentic politicians we Rer North Eastern people should think beyond the oriented NEGOTIATED DEMOCRACY, going against the grain of our our sons and our daughters politics- we should shun away. Why years in years out we cry that our leaders are not fulfilling their pledges the bus stops at us .
For now that mombasa retreats is just swaying our attentions.
Unless we set another political structure for sanity, development political hypocrisy will be closet that never closes.
God bless wajir County.
