#Wajir Kenya – Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi on Monday received members of the Senate Standing Committee on Health, led by Chair Senator Jackson Mandago, during a high-level courtesy call aimed at evaluating the county's healthcare system.
The committee’s visit focused on key areas of healthcare service delivery, including the state of infrastructure, availability of essential drugs and medical supplies, staffing levels, emergency preparedness, and the digitization of hospital systems.
During the meeting, Governor Abdullahi and the senators engaged in comprehensive discussions on the implementation of the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) and the accreditation of healthcare facilities across the county.
“These engagements are crucial for identifying service gaps and enhancing the delivery of quality and affordable healthcare to our people,” said Governor Abdullahi. “I appreciate the committee’s proactive approach in seeking firsthand insights and reaffirm my commitment to working with all stakeholders to improve our health systems.”
The Senate team’s fact-finding mission is part of a nationwide initiative to monitor healthcare services and support counties in strengthening their systems in line with national health goals.
