IEBC Launches Enhanced Voter Registration Drive in Wajir Ahead of 2027 Polls

By Ahmed Salat Ali

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Wajir County Office has officially launched the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) 2026 exercise across the county, marking a key step in preparations for the 2027 Kenyan General Elections.

Speaking to the media in Wajir, Acting County Election Manager Abdi Bashir Alinoor Ibrahim confirmed that the voter registration process is now fully underway in all designated centres across the county.

He said the exercise forms part of the Commission’s broader electoral roadmap aimed at ensuring every eligible citizen is registered ahead of the next general election.

“The registration exercise has officially commenced and our officers have been deployed across Wajir County to ensure that all eligible voters are able to register without difficulty,” said Abdi Bashir.

He noted that the Commission has put in place adequate logistical and technical support to guarantee a smooth process, adding that the voter management technology is functioning efficiently.

“All KIEMS kits are fully operational and our ICT teams are on the ground providing technical support to ensure that both new voter registrations and transfers of voter details are accurately captured,” he said.

Abdi Bashir reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to inclusivity and transparency, stressing that the exercise is designed to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral process.

He also issued a strong appeal to young people across the county to take part in the exercise, describing the youth as a critical pillar in shaping the country’s democratic future.

“Young people form the backbone of this nation. We encourage them to come forward in large numbers and register as voters so that they can actively participate in determining the leadership and direction of the country,” he added.

The voter registration exercise is expected to run across several registration centres in Wajir County as the electoral body intensifies preparations for the next national polls.

Basir Security Centre Row Sparks Debate as Eldas MP Defends Project

By Ahmed Salat Ali | Political Affairs | AARAN TV KE  Aden Keynan has broken his silence on the controversial Basir Multi-Agency Centre, strongly defending the project as a critical national security intervention and warning leaders against politicizing matters touching on public safety and regional stability. In a strongly worded statement, the Eldas legislator said he had deliberately refrained from commenting on the matter for a long period out of respect for the sensitivity of Kenya’s security architecture. However, he noted that growing misinformation and inflammatory narratives surrounding the proposed facility had compelled him to clarify the facts. “Security remains a sacred constitutional mandate of the National Government, entrusted with safeguarding lives, protecting borders and preserving the stability of our Republic,” Keynan stated.
