Duale Urges Youth to Register as Voters, Warns Politicians Against Politicising ‘Niko Kadi’

By Ahmed Salat AARAN TV KE

Cabinet Secretary for Health Aden Duale has called on young people across the country to register as voters, urging them to take an active role in shaping Kenya’s democratic future.

Speaking in Garissa County during the 28th High School Graduation Ceremony at Khadija Bint Khuwaylid Madrassa, Duale appealed to the youth in Northern Kenya and beyond to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise being conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

“Young people must seize this opportunity to participate in the democratic process. I urge the youth in Garissa, across Northern Kenya and throughout the country to register as voters and make their voices count,” he said.

At the same time, the Cabinet Secretary cautioned political leaders against politicising the youth-driven ‘Niko Kadi’ initiative, which seeks to encourage young people to obtain national identification cards and participate in civic processes.

“‘Niko Kadi’ is a national civic initiative meant to empower young people, not a political tool. Leaders must refrain from politicising it and allow it to serve its intended purpose of encouraging civic participation,” Duale emphasized.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone for Khadija Bint Khuwaylid Madrassa, where 45 students graduated after successfully completing their high school studies. The institution’s 28th graduation ceremony drew parents, religious leaders and local officials to celebrate the achievement.

During the event, Duale underscored the importance of religious education in shaping responsible and principled young women.

“Religious education plays a critical role in empowering girls and young women with strong moral and intellectual foundations. Institutions such as this madrassa are vital in nurturing well-rounded individuals who will contribute positively to society,” he noted, while commending the school’s leadership for its dedication to education and character development.

In a move aimed at strengthening the institution’s long-term sustainability, the Cabinet Secretary laid the foundation stone for a Waqf (endowment) project that will support the madrassa’s educational programmes and operations.

The proposed four-storey complex will consist of residential apartments and commercial units, with proceeds from the development earmarked to finance the institution’s activities and ensure its continued growth.

The ceremony was attended by Garissa County Commissioner Ramadhan Mwabudzo, Members of the County Assembly, religious leaders and parents, who joined the graduates in celebrating the milestone achievement.

Basir Security Centre Row Sparks Debate as Eldas MP Defends Project

By Ahmed Salat Ali | Political Affairs | AARAN TV KE  Aden Keynan has broken his silence on the controversial Basir Multi-Agency Centre, strongly defending the project as a critical national security intervention and warning leaders against politicizing matters touching on public safety and regional stability. In a strongly worded statement, the Eldas legislator said he had deliberately refrained from commenting on the matter for a long period out of respect for the sensitivity of Kenya’s security architecture. However, he noted that growing misinformation and inflammatory narratives surrounding the proposed facility had compelled him to clarify the facts. “Security remains a sacred constitutional mandate of the National Government, entrusted with safeguarding lives, protecting borders and preserving the stability of our Republic,” Keynan stated. The MP described the Ethiopia–Moyale–Basir–Arbajan–Isiolo corridor as one of the major transit routes for transnational organized crime, ...
