HABASWEIN — Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Jehow has reaffirmed her commitment to inclusive development and service delivery following an emotionally charged visit to Habaswein and the wider Wajir South constituency.
Speaking during her development tour, Jehow described the region as “deeply personal,” recalling the enduring legacy of her late father, Mzee Jehow, whose dedication to public service continues to shape her leadership journey.
“Habaswein and the greater Wajir South hold a special place in my heart. Today, I felt a powerful connection—an outpouring of warmth and trust that reflects the legacy of my late father,” she said.
Jehow noted that the trust once placed in her father has now been extended to her and her team, a responsibility she said she carries with humility and determination.
The visit forms part of her ongoing countywide tour aimed at strengthening grassroots engagement, assessing community needs and accelerating development initiatives. She emphasized her administration’s focus on drought mitigation, women’s empowerment, and targeted support for vulnerable groups.
Under the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), Jehow oversaw the distribution of essential food supplies to persons living with disabilities, reaffirming her pledge to ensure no one is left behind.
“This journey is about reaching every member of our community, expanding opportunity and acting with purpose,” she stated.
In a major boost to education in the area, the legislator presented a cheque of KSh 1 million to support students, underscoring the importance of education as a foundation for progress.
“Every child deserves the chance to learn, to dream, and to rise—regardless of circumstance,” she added.
Jehow also expressed gratitude to local leaders and residents for their warm reception, singling out Ademasajida Ward MCA Mahfudha Abdullahi Hajji for her leadership and collaboration.
“To the people of Habaswein, you have been extraordinary. Thank you for your unwavering support,” she said.
The tour continues across Wajir County as leaders intensify efforts to address pressing socio-economic challenges while fostering unity and development at the grassroots.
