The Sama Sultanate, under the leadership of Sultan Hassan Sultan Omar Sultan Shurie, has formally presented its request to the respected Awliyahan Geed leadership, headed by Ugas Hamud Sheikh, in pursuit of a political alliance ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial elections.
The high-level engagement, held in an atmosphere of mutual respect and consultation, focused on strengthening cooperation and securing support for Senator Abdul Haji’s anticipated gubernatorial candidature in 2027.
According to leaders present during the discussions, the meeting symbolized a renewed commitment to unity, brotherhood, and collective political understanding between the two communities, whose relationship has long been anchored on dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
“This engagement marks another important milestone in reinforcing the longstanding ties, consultation, and mutual understanding shared by our communities,” a leader accompanying the delegation stated.
The leaders further emphasized that the continued spirit of cooperation and consultation demonstrated throughout the talks reflects the growing desire among residents to foster inclusivity, stability, and a united political future for Garissa County.
Political observers view the ongoing consultations as an early but significant step toward shaping alliances expected to influence the county’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Senator Abdul Haji, while acknowledging the importance of unity and consensus-building, reiterated the need for communities to work together in pursuit of shared progress and development.
In a symbolic remark that captured the mood of the meeting, the Senator stated:
“Hadey bilbilaawaneysa, dib bey ka ballaaran doontaa.”
The statement, loosely translated, conveys the message that a movement which begins steadily will eventually grow broader and stronger with time.
The consultations are expected to continue as regional leaders intensify engagements aimed at building wider political partnerships across Garissa County.
