The Mulembe region has resolved to throw its full political weight behind President William Ruto's re-election bid, citing the government's development record, including major infrastructure projects, expanded healthcare services, support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and sustained economic growth.
Speaking during an empowerment programme in Sabatia Sub-county, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula said the region's decision was informed by the tangible development projects undertaken by the Kenya Kwanza administration.
He pointed to the construction of sports stadiums, the expansion of the road network, improved access to quality healthcare, and initiatives aimed at strengthening small businesses.
"After the overwhelming reception we received at Silverline in Eldoret, I joined the people of Sabatia for an empowerment programme targeting women, youth, and persons with disabilities. These initiatives are designed to grow businesses, create opportunities, and ensure that no one is left behind as we build our nation together," Wetang'ula said.
The Speaker urged Western Kenya residents to firmly support President Ruto's quest for a second term, arguing that working closely with the national government provides the region with a stronger voice in decision-making and accelerates development.
"We must remain united. If Western Kenya is to produce a president in the future, unity will be our greatest political asset. Aligning with the government strengthens our influence and positions the region to benefit from national development programmes," he stated.
Wetang'ula also challenged residents to actively participate in voter registration and future elections, stressing that population numbers alone cannot guarantee political influence.
"Our population is an advantage but numbers alone are not enough. Unless our people register as voters and turn out to vote, we cannot convert that numerical strength into political power or meaningful development," he said.
The Speaker reaffirmed that the empowerment programmes being rolled out across the country are intended to uplift vulnerable groups, stimulate entrepreneurship and broaden economic opportunities as part of the government's inclusive development agenda.
