The ELBEN Community Team delivered an impressive performance to defeat the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) team 6–2 and emerge champions of the Hungai Friendship Football Tournament held on March 28, 2026, at Hungai Camp in Tarbaj Sub-County, Wajir County.

The lively match drew players and spectators from both the local community and the military, creating an atmosphere of excitement and sportsmanship. ELBEN’s dominant display on the pitch saw the community side outplay their opponents and secure a decisive victory in the final match of the tournament.

The tournament was organized by Zhongmei Engineering Group (ZMEG), which is currently undertaking major road development works in the region. The sporting event brought together personnel from the Kenya Defence Forces and members of the surrounding communities, promoting unity and friendly engagement.

Organizers noted that the tournament was aimed at strengthening cooperation and fostering positive relations between project workers, security personnel, and local residents. Sports, they said, continue to play an important role in building social cohesion and encouraging peaceful interaction within communities.

ELBEN Community Team was awarded a cash prize of KSh10,000 and a certificate of recognition for their outstanding teamwork and determination throughout the competition.

The event underscored how community-centered initiatives, including sports, can complement development projects by nurturing goodwill and strengthening ties among stakeholders in the region.

By Ahmed Salat Ali | Political Affairs | AARAN TV KE  Aden Keynan has broken his silence on the controversial Basir Multi-Agency Centre, strongly defending the project as a critical national security intervention and warning leaders against politicizing matters touching on public safety and regional stability.
