The Wajir County Directorate of Youth, Sports and Talent has established a football training camp at Wagberi Primary School Field and the Police Field to identify and prepare a county team for upcoming national competitions.
The camp targets youth aged between 18 and 23 years, who are currently undergoing trials and training as part of the selection process for the county team.
The selected squad will represent Wajir County in the 11th edition of the Kenya Youth Inter-County Sports Association (KYISA) Games scheduled to take place in Laikipia County from April 10 to April 19, 2026.
According to county sports officials, the tournament offers young athletes an important platform to showcase their talent, gain exposure, and access opportunities at the national level.
The selection and training process is being conducted by the County Sports Directorate in collaboration with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Wajir Branch to ensure a competitive and well-prepared team.
The initiative also reflects the commitment of Wajir Governor FCPA Ahmed Abdullahi to empowering youth through sports while promoting unity, talent development and the growth of sporting activities across the county.
