Arbajahan–Griftu Ward witnessed a vibrant political moment as the Maow community formally endorsed Hon. Sharif Ali Gure as its preferred candidate for Member of County Assembly (MCA) ahead of the 2027 general elections. The endorsement comes amid growing political interest in the seat, with at least eight aspirants already positioning themselves for the contest.
The event, marked by pomp and colour, drew large crowds who turned out in celebration. Traditional dances, chants and songs filled the air as supporters welcomed the aspirant in what observers described as a show of unity and early momentum. At the heart of the ceremony was the presentation of an official certificate, symbolizing the Maow clan’s unanimous approval of Sharif Ali Gure as their representative in the upcoming race.
Community elders, youth leaders, women representatives and religious figures attended the gathering, underscoring the broad-based support behind the endorsement. Speaker after speaker praised the aspirant, describing him as a capable and experienced leader with the credentials to steer the ward toward meaningful development.
“Sharif Ali Gure is a man we trust,” said one elder during the ceremony. “He understands our challenges and has the vision to transform this ward. We believe he will bring back leadership that listens to the people.”
In his acceptance speech, Sharif Ali Gure laid out his vision for the ward, promising a development-driven agenda aimed at addressing long-standing challenges. He cited poor infrastructure, struggling healthcare services, weak education systems, youth unemployment and the marginalization of women as key issues requiring urgent intervention.
“I accept this endorsement with humility and a deep sense of responsibility,” he said. “Our ward has faced years of neglect, and the gap between leadership and the people has widened. I am committed to restoring that trust and delivering tangible development that improves lives.”
He further emphasized inclusivity, pledging to work closely with all segments of the community. “No group will be left behind—our youth, our women, our elders all must have a voice and a stake in the future of Arbajahan–Griftu,” he added.
Political analysts note that while the endorsement gives Sharif Ali Gure an early advantage, the race remains competitive given the number of interested candidates. However, the scale of the event and the unity displayed by the Maow community signal a significant boost to his campaign as the 2027 countdown gains momentum.
The coming months are expected to shape the political landscape further, as aspirants intensify grassroots mobilization and refine their development agendas in a ward eager for change.
