ODM Opens Door for 2027 Aspirants Ahead of General Election

By Ahmed Salat Ali | Political Affairs Reporter, AARAN TV KE

Orange Democratic Movement has officially invited interested party members to submit applications for various elective seats ahead of the 2027 General Election, signaling the beginning of what is expected to be an intense political season across the country.

In a public notice released by the party’s National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC), ODM called on qualified members seeking to contest on the party ticket to express their interest through the party’s online application portal before the June 30, 2026 deadline.

The positions open for application include President, Governor, Senator, County Woman Representative, Member of the National Assembly, and Member of the County Assembly.

According to the notice, all applicants must be registered voters and verified party members before submitting their applications.

The party emphasized its commitment to a transparent and credible nomination process aimed at strengthening internal democracy ahead of the highly anticipated 2027 polls.

“ODM remains committed to a fair, transparent, and inclusive nomination exercise that reflects the democratic will of party members across the country,” the statement read.

Party members were also encouraged to verify their membership details through the designated party verification code to avoid last-minute inconveniences during the nomination period.

The announcement, signed by NECC Chairperson Emily Awita, marks the first major step by ODM in preparing its structures and aspirants for the next general election.

Political analysts view the early call for applications as a strategic move by the party to organize its grassroots machinery and identify potential candidates well ahead of the national campaigns.

“This early preparation gives aspirants enough time to engage voters, strengthen party networks, and prepare for competitive nominations,” observed a Nairobi-based political analyst.

The exercise is expected to attract hundreds of aspirants from across the country as political parties gradually begin positioning themselves for the 2027 electoral battle.
